Body of Mach E

Mach E is a crossover and thus, does not expect a Mustang as a whole. It is manufactured as a five-door SUV instead of an orthodox two doored Mustang. The idea behind this design is to lure the daily user market. Mustang emblem is provided at the front and rear.

Even though Mach E is not a replica of Mustang, Ford has brought several salient features from Mustang to its first fully electric car including the front and rear light blocks, the bulbous hood, sleek roof profile, wide wheel arches, and also the pony badge on the front grille.

The colour variants range from space white to metallic red, with red the only option among coloured colours.

The touch-sensitive buttons on the pillar between the front and rear windows will pop the door open in the absence of the door handles. The touchpoints will get illuminated once reached near it and will lock once left the electric vehicle.

With the absence of the internal combustion engines, Mach E has got trunk space in the front as well. The trunk space is 402 (rear), 1420 (when rear seats are folded) and 100 l (front), amounting to a total of 1520 l, which is a massive number.

Interior of Mach E

Mach E’s interior would stun anyone, even if they’re accustomed to Ford’s Mustang vehicles too. The large 15.5” display screen and the optional speakers on the dashboard covering all above the air vents are the highlights of the interior.

An armrest is available that provides storage space as well. An optional glass roof with infrared technology keeps the passengers protected on sunny days.

Ford includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in the Mustang Mach-E, providing access to apps including Apple Maps, Apple Music, Waze, Google Maps, Spotify, Messages, WhatsApp and more.

Ford has squeezed a 10.2-inch display into the cluster behind the steering wheel. There are USB ports to plug in and top-up the devices on the move. An important aspect to keep the kids occupied in the rear.

System in Mach E

The Mach-E is offered with multiple options, a standard-range of 75.7 kWh lithium-ion battery and a 98.8 kWh extended range battery, the latter having a targeted range of at least 483 km. The smaller battery can go up to 378 km. Because a majority of owners will do their charging at home, the Mach-E is offered with a Ford Connected Charging station, which adds up to 52 km of range per hour on a household 240-volt outlet. This charger can add an estimated average range of 35 km per charging hour with that same voltage.

The Mach-E offers both rear-wheel and all-wheel-drive variants. The all-wheel-drive Mach-E has about 332 HP and 565 Nm of torque with a 0-100 kph time in the mid-five-second range. Ford claims both Mach-E models have around 459 HP and 830 Nm of torque and a 01-100 kph time in three to four seconds.

Additional Features of Mach E

There are four cameras situated around the Mustang Mach-E, which can provide a clear view of our surroundings, especially useful in tight spaces and parking.

In the case of parking difficulties, the Ford Mustang Mach-E comes with an Intelligent Active Park Assist, which can automatically park in a perpendicular or parallel space.

Launch of Ford Mustang Mach E

Ford Mustang Mach E is slated for an international launch by the end of 2020 in the United States of America and the United Kingdom. The price range starts at 33.42 lacs ranging up to 46 lacs for the premium models.

But in India, it is expected to reach only by the mid of 2021. And competing with Mach-E in the electric vehicles market would be the two all-electric premium SUVs on sale already viz. the Audi e-tron and the Jaguar I-Pace
